Product Description Its official: There is no longer a stigma associated with Internet dating. Its true. We promise. Nearly 50 million Americans have tried it. That means roughly half of the single adult population has filled out an online dating profile or has at least browsed a few personal ads, just to see whos out there. Quickly disappearing are the days of awkward setups and random encounters. Todays singles simply post a profile on a handful of dating websites, then sit back and wait for the dates to roll in. Well, thats the idea anyway. The reality is that most people slap together vague and uninspired dating profiles and quickly become disillusioned when "the one" doesnt respond the next day. In I CANT BELIEVE IM BUYING THIS BOOK, Internet dating expert Evan Marc Katza former MatchNet consultant and avowed online daterdemystifies the world of Internet dating. He offers practical advice on choosing the right dating website, writing eye-catching profiles, striking up that first email "conversation," turning a first date into a second, and much more. Equal parts how-to guide and inspirational pep talk, I CANT BELIEVE IM BUYING THIS BOOK is like having a chat with a good friend, in this case, a hysterically funny, insightful friend who tells it like it is while remaining cheerfully optimistic about the universal quest for love. Whether youre an online dating junkie or a complete newcomer, an enthusiastic twentysomething or a been-there-done-that divorcée, this irreverent and intelligent guide will teach even the most jaded single how to master the dating game and find true love online.

There's already many online dating books... November 9, 2009 Jennifer M (New York, NY) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
... which makes it hard for me to rate this one more than an average 3-star. The problem is all books about online dating offer the same advice. When internet dating was new 10 years ago, a book such as this would have been helpful!
If you are a newbie to internet dating, I recommend this book!
However, if you have been dating online for a year or two, it seems the advice offered in the book are basic common sense suggestions - be honest, post a good photo, write a good positive profile!
Interesting Perspective with secrets for a strong profile May 6, 2009 NAP 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'd never thought I meet someone from an internet dating site. Yes, like anything it else, it takes time. I enjoyed reading this book.
Katz does a good job explaining how to write a polished profile without writing a novel. Opposed to general statements, this provides insight for someone to become familiar with you.
If someone on a site sends you a response, Evan provides excellent suggestions on how to respond.
Since you are both strangers, Katz describes where to go & what to do on a first date.
Also, he provides warning signs pertaining stalkers, & scams.
Furthermore, Katz mentions actions your date may do that aren't meant to offend U.
Guidance for Newbies April 29, 2009 Edward G. Simmons (Atlanta, GA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Katz is a consultant for online daters, so this book is a come-on that probably gets him additional consulting business. This is a short, readable guide for people new to online dating. It is particularly good in comparing the features of the leading online dating services and in consistently advocating for honesty in what you say in profiles. Less helpful is a chapter of five profiles he has helped write which is supposed to show you how to do a better profile but actually ends up encouraging you to seek Katz's consulting help. The book has much helpful information, but for a better introduction to online dating for beginners I would recommend Online Dating for Dummies.

Easy to read, Good information, Funny and Entertaning August 27, 2008 Not one paper cut while reading! 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I disagree with the negative comments some others wrote about this book. Judging from what I see on the dating sites, a lot of people are going about this wrong. So, it is not outdated nor is it simple common sense that every one already knows. Instead it has relevant and useful tips on making your profile stand out. Your communications will be more effective and your online dating experience will be better overall. Lastly, he writes about all this with a great sense of humor.
